Principal's Note

Dear Parents,

What a great start to the year we have had. It’s already November and the holidays are right around the corner. We just wrapped up the first quarter of the school year. Time is flying by. I want to just thank you all for the support that you offer to the school. We just completed our Halloween Carnival and we couldn’t have done it without the help from so many of you. Thanks to our PTO room mothers who organized the meal, got donations for prizes and pop and helped out with the games and the spook alley. There are too many of you to name, but we couldn’t have done it without you. We raised more money this year than in any previous year. It takes a sizeable amount of money to send our kids to Yellowstone each year, and between the carnival and the hoodies that the 6th graders sell at the volleyball tournament, we basically come out even to pay for the trip. Again, we couldn’t do this without our wonderful parents. Thank you!

On another exciting note, you may hear your student talk about library time, and it may sound like the quiet library time that you’re used to has changed into an enthusiastic and lively 40 minutes. If that’s what you’re hearing, then you’ve hear correctly. Mrs. Walton began working last year to implement STEM instruction into library time. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math instruction. She has created several units full of fun, creative, innovative and exciting lessons with manipulatives that are teaching students how to create towers, 3-D art, and bridges, just to name a few. We’ve just about completed our first month and the students are loving it. I would invite you to ask your student what they are doing in library and I’m sure their eyes will light up.

I truly enjoy getting to know each and every student that comes to CES. If there is ever anything I can do for your kids please let me know. Have a great November.

Harold Hatch
